The State Government approved the publication of the Western Australian Department of Health process for providing advice to the Environmental Protection Authority on human health risk assessments for hydraulic fracturing proposals position paper on 8 October 2020.
The position paper describes a template for the Chemicals Register, which will list the chemicals reviewed by DoH through the human health risk assessments process and be published on DoH’s website.
The position paper closes Action 9 of the Government’s Implementation Plan.
A paper, which includes Chemical register template, is currently being finalised.
Chemicals Register template, to be maintained by the Department of Health, is under development.
Existing processes are being reviewed and documented, ensuring alignment with Action 7 referral process, to develop a within-government process to collate and maintain a register of chemicals used in hydraulic fracture stimulation as referred for review.
